
Jessica Michelle Chastain was born March 24, 1977. She is an American actress, producer, and model. Most famous for her roles in films with feminist themes. she has received various accolades, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one the 100 most influential people worldwide in 2012. Chastain began to develop an interest in acting at an early age and made her stage debut in 1998 when she played Shakespeare's Juliet. After her studies in acting at the Juilliard School, she was awarded a talent-holding contract with the TV producer John Wells. She appeared as frequent guest on a variety of television shows and also played roles in many stage productions. Chastain made her film debut in Jolene (2008) at the age of 31. She went on to release six films in 2011 which included The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011). In her roles as an aspirant socialite and CIA analyst, she earned Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science fiction films Interstellar (2014) & The Martian (2015) were commercially more successful than the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain gained further praise for playing strong-willed women in the dramas A Most Violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017), as well as the mini-series on television Scenes from a Marriage (2021). After playing Tammy Faye Bakker, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21), respectively. Chastain is the founder of production firm Freckle Films, which was created to promote diversity in film, and is an shareholder in the soccer club Angel City FC.
