Rubi Rose Benton was born on 2 October, 1997 in Lexington, Kentucky, where she was raised by Nardos Ghebrelul her mother, who is an Eritrean dentist from the country of immigrants who was born in Ethiopia and John Benton, her father who is a lawyer of Japanese, African American and European descent. Her father was an adoptive child. There is an older sister named Scarlette and one younger sister called Coral. (2) She was baptized into Orthodox Christianity in the age of a child. (better source needed) She spent one year in Geneva. After her junior year of high school, she moved to Atlanta. Brookwood High School was her high school located in Snellville. She ran track.
