April Ross

April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball athletes to win medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix klineman, who is playing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games, will try to earn her third Olympic medal. Ross is hoping to secure an Olympic the first medal of gold but she is also aiming to earn greater. Perhaps this is her only chance at winning, as she's 39 old. She is still confident, however. If we do our top or play well I feel like we can get that gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. It's also going to be an issue of luck. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and sister. Ross went on to play in a myriad of activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. As a pre-schooler she played basketball, indoor volleyball as well as running track. But she clearly was superior to the rest when it came to the second sport. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker outside setter and hitter in the court for volleyball per her college bio. She was awarded by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999, for her performance. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman formed their partnership in 2017, but Ross has been a beach player for years prior to. She has won major competitions with different players. The other is an iconic player in the volleyball world. For six years from 2007-2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Together with Kessy Ross was a force in the world circuit, winning a world title in 2009. They eventually won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary group comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. The pair took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a player for the USC Trojans in college years after she graduated in high school. The time she spent at the school was an impressive one. The year 2000 was her freshman year. saw her earn the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of the Year awards and be an All-American. Additionally, she was an integral player to help the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. Her heart was broken by a personal tragedy during her second year, but she managed to become an All-American in her second year. Over the course of her final two seasons she led the Trojans up to the summit and won consecutive national titles. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross was not able to see Ross achieve beach volleyball's top stage. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001 when Ross was a USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. Ross is still awed by her late parent. Also, Margie continues to be an motivation for her at the beach as well as in everyday her daily life.
